What is IMV?
The Minimum Living Income is a benefit aimed at preventing the risk of poverty and social exclusion of people who live alone or are integrated into a cohabitation unit and lack basic economic resources to cover their basic needs.
It is configured as a subjective right to an economic benefit, which is part of the protective action of Social Security, and guarantees a minimum level of income to those who are in a situation of economic vulnerability. It seeks to guarantee a real improvement in opportunities for social and labor inclusion of the beneficiaries.

The 5 main reasons they will penalise you.
1. Document Forgery.
If you are caught falsifying information or documents to obtain or maintain the benefit, you will face an automatic penalty.
2. Travel Abroad.
If you travel abroad without fulfilling your obligation to notify Social Security, you need to inform them and explain the purpose of the trip. If you are outside Spain for more than three months without notifying, you could be penalized with the repayment of the benefit.
3. Failure to Notify Changes.
Another reason for withdrawing the benefit is failing to inform about changes affecting the conditions of the Minimum Vital Income (IMV). For example, if your household size decreases because a child becomes independent. With one less person, the amount of the benefit would be reduced, and not reporting that you are now three instead of four would constitute a serious violation for receiving excess funds.
4. Not Meeting Economic Conditions.
A very serious offense is failing to meet the economic conditions of the Minimum Vital Income. For example, if you receive money that exceeds the allowable earnings limit and do not report it. The result is that you would be receiving a benefit you are not entitled to and would have to repay the excess.
5. Required Documents.
If Social Security requests a document essential for maintaining the benefit and you do not provide it within the specified timeframe, you may be penalised.
