What To Do If You Are Charged Extra For COVID-Measures?

The Consumers Department of the Junta de Andalucia has issued a warning for all businesses that they are not allowed to transfer the extra costs involved with the obligatory protective COVID measures in place, as an extra cost on an invoice or quote. As the client has no choice, it would be considered an abusive practice indicating the cost as an ‘extra’, or supplement.

Businesses are of course allowed to adjust their pricing to compensate for the costs involved.

What to do if you are presented an invoice with the additional costs as an ‘extra’?
You can refuse to pay this supplement, file an official complaint with the company (ask for their Libro de Reclamaciones), as well as report it to the Consumer Administration for investigation and appropriate action.

For those renting out their properties for holiday purposes, please note that this information is valid for you as well.
