Travelling to and From the UK with Pets From January 1. 2021

You can use an EU pet passport if:
They live in an EU country (e.g. Spain),
The pet is registered in that EU country
The passport is issued by an EU vet in that country
The details match the owner’s EU residence.

The April 2026 update represents a consolidation of existing EU pet travel legislation rather than a change in requirements.
