The Andalucian Government has started a programme to try and limit the amount of students that leave school prematurely, due to repeated bad results and resulting demotivation, by offering summer courses to upgrade students’ levels.
“Programa de Refuerzo Educativo y Deportivo en periodo estival” is the official name.
They offer a 2 week summer school programme during the month of July, where students of Primary School level will receive classes in ‘Comunicación Linguistica’, English and Maths, combined with sports activities. From 9-14 hrs on weekdays. If students attend regularly during the first half of July and there are places available, they could enroll for the 2nd half of July as well.
Cost: 120 euros per 15 days, but heavily subsidised, resulting in a co-payment for the parents of 15 euros.
More info on the Junta de Andalucia website, there is a pdf file with participating schools and you can either matriculate online, if you have a digital certificate installed on your computer, or are registered on the Secretaría Virtual website, or download the form and deliver to the relevant school.
Window to apply is open until the 10th of May. The grades of the Easter evaluation will be taken into account.
