On My Electricity Bill ´penalizaciÓn Por Ausencia Icp´, What Does This Mean?

All electric meters must be fitted with an ICP switch that will cut off the power if you use more kWh than you have contracted. The electricity companies have sent out letters to their clients, informing them of this obligation. If you do not have one installed yet, you can get fined for each month you are not complying with the law. Fines will increase with time. Contact your electricity company about having the ICP swith installed. You can employ a certified electrician of your choice as well, but the electricity company will have to seal the meter after the switch has been installed.

New digital meters have a built-in ICP switch. Be ware as many households have been fined for not having the ICP switch, while in posession of digital meter!
