Movement in or through France? You’ll need an “attestation” for that…
BRITISH EMBASSY PARIS·TUESDAY, 17 MARCH 2020·
Last night, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner outlined further detail about how the call to remain at home for the next 15 days would work.
1. From 12 noon today, you will need an “attestation” or declaration when you go outside. If you have a printer at home, please print a copy and fill it out yourself. If you cannot print, then you may write it out by hand. Please see the example on the Ministry of Interior website (scroll down for link to pdf. Under the red banner if you are a private person, under the blue banner if you are a professional driver.) You will need to fill in your full name, date of birth, and address. Then tick the box corresponding to why you are out – they are listed in the same order as the reasons below.
2. British citizens travelling through France to ports, airports and train stations will also need to fill out an attestation – printed out and filled in, or written by hand. You may wish to write “Je rentre au Royaume-Uni en voiture / par avion (aeroport de: ville) / par train” which means “I am returning to the UK by car / by airplane (name of airport) / by train”.
3. Further exceptions to the travel restrictions were also announced and include:
· travel between home and work, where that activity can’t be done from home (which you’ll need proof of) or where that activity cannot be postponed;
· local trips to make essential purchases (see a list on government.fr);
· trips for health reasons;
· trips for urgent family reasons, for example to help vulnerable people or for child care;
· short trips, close to home, for exercise or walking a pet – but not team sports.
4. Checks will be carried out. Failure to comply with these measures will result in a fine being issued, starting at 38 Euros and rising to 130 Euros.
