Leaving Spain. What Action Should I Take About My Residency Status?

For EU Citizens and UKNS who are in possession of the green registration certificate/card:

Download the form EX18 from our files tab. Fill in and at the bottom you will note residency application. The the left, tick the box which states ‘BAJA POR CESE’ Make an appointment preferably in the same office as you applied for residencia. Take your passport and copies of first and photo page and your resident certificate. This is all you need but I suggest you ask for a certificate as proof of nonresident status. This costs around six euro. They will provide the ‘modelo 790’ with which to pay this small tax at nearest bank. Return and hand in docs. Return when advised with the stamped copy of the 790 and collect your certificate.

For those no longer residing in Spain. Residency de registration cannot be applied for with a POA as applicant must be present. To de-register. Should be able to have this carried out by a lawyer with a POA. Check with the police station in question first.

If already abroad, check if the Spanish Consulate in your area can carry out the procedure for you.
