Impaired Hearing - Still Allowed To Drive?

Posted in: On The Road
Author: Richelle de Wit

Impaired hearing doesn´t prohibit driving for non-professional drivers, but if your loss of hearing in both ears is over 45%, you can only drive a vehicle that is fitted with a panoramic interior mirror and exterior mirrors on both sides.

If you are a professional driver however, with a hearing impairment of over 35% you cannot obtain or renew a driving licence for those categories that are relevant to your job, only for regular private vehicles, ´turismo´.
