IBI Discounts for Energy Efficiency in the Home

Posted in: Property
Author: Richelle de Wit

Did you know that the national government, in the General Budget Law,  has included a possible discount on the IBI bills for those who have had an Energy Certificate drawn up for their property?

It´s up to individual towns to transpose this discount into their own fiscal ´ordenanzas´as of 1.1.2016,  so you would have to check at your Town Hall whether they are available where you live/own property, but the national law provides for the following discounts:

A rating – 20%

B rating – 16%

C rating – 12%

D rating – 8%

E rating – 4%

Any rating below that does not qualify for a discount.

To remind you, here´s our file with info on when your property is supposed to have an Energy Certificate, but the above discounts could be an incentive to have it drawn up voluntarily, if your Town Hall is applying them. Especially if you have solar panels installed on your property, which would result in a high rating for the energy efficiency of your property.
