Under national traffic law, for moving vehicles, covering up (part of) one of the windows is forbidden and sanctionable.
Putting up a For Sale/Se Vende sign up on a parked car is more complicated, no national law, so you will have to check the local ‘ordenanza’ (regulation) that covers this at your local Town Hall.
In most towns however, they will not allow it as seen as ‘venta ambulante illegal’ (illegal market trading) or ‘uso indebido de la vía pública’ (wrong use of the public road) with sanctions varying from 200 to 1.000 euros, especially if the vehicle is occupying a public parking place for longer periods of time.
In relation to this issue, recently the ANCOVE (National Association of Vehicle Dealers) stated that the majority of cars with the “for sale” sign are organized groups. This translates into some professionals putting cars for sale on the street to pose as private individuals so as not to have to offer those guarantees to which you would be bound by their professional activity.
