Loss, Change of Ownership, Death and Abandonment of Pets (Andalucia)

As all pets by law have permanent identification (chip) in case of loss, change of ownership or death of your pet, you must notify the Municipal Registry. The easiest way is to contact an Authorized Veterinarian, where you will be provided with the documentation for the change of owner, address or for deregistration. For the deregistration you can also contact your City Council.

In case of loss, you can contact the authorized veterinarian, call the phone number or e-mail the RAIA Registry (Register Identification Animals, contact your Town Hall or communicate it to the Local Police or Civil Guard.

Abandoned or lost pet

The most convenient is that you inform the Local Police, the Civil Guard or the competent service of the City Council (Environment or Health) to find the animal and deliver it so that they can proceed with their identification through their own means or by an authorized veterinarian. These will proceed, where appropriate, to the identification and location of the owner for the temporary entry of the animal into a center for abandoned and lost animals, until recovery by the owner.

If it is proven that it is a case of abandonment, a complaint will be filed against the owner by the City Council, Local Police or Civil Guard and a disciplinary procedure would be initiated by the competent body of the Autonomous Community.
