Financial Support for Parents of Children with Cancer or Other Serious Illnesses

As a working parent foster or adoptive parent of a minor with cancer or other serious illness, you may be entitled to financial assistance. This applies if both parents are working and one parent needs to reduce working hours by 50% to be with your child during hospital stays. This applies to children up the age of 18.

You need to be up to date with your social security payments. To apply and obtain full informations, you should visit your local INSS Seguridad Social Office(National Institute of Social Security).

The application should be made within three months from when the reduced hours commenced. Application after this period, assistance will be provided for the last three month from application date.
