Ayuda Familiar is the common name for unemployment subsidy for those whose contributive unemployment benefits (Paro) has been used up and who have dependent family members. Can include children, but spouse as well.
Currently (year 2019) 430 euros/month and you must meet a series of requisites to be able to receive it, one of which is income related, both re the person that applies for the subsidio and re the total income of the ´unidad familiar´ so the persons living under one roof.
You must remain registered as ´demandante de empleo´/ jobseeker and you can´t apply until one full month after your paro has ended. After that month you have a window of 15 days to apply.
If all requisites are met, Ayuda Familiar will be granted for 6 months, renewable twice in most circumstances, so for a total of 18 months. Please check the info provided in the article we link to, to see if you might qualify for 24 or even 30 months.
Please be ware that if your last employment was part-time, the Ayuda Familiar subsidy will only amount to the same part-time pro rata of the amount mentioned above. So if your last contract before unemployment was for 20 hours/week (50% of full time) you will only receive 215 euros.
