On September 1 the UK government published an update on uprating pensions on their website under the title “Uprating guarantee for UK State Pension recipients living in EU”.
It is important that those affected read the body of the news item. The uprating promised by the last government has already been put in place from April of this year until March 2020. The present government has committed to continue to up-rate pensions until March of 2023, in the event that the UK exits the Union without a deal.
You will find mentions of uprating pensions for those in the EU on various posts on this topic from the government. These have been posted over the last three years in their negotiation papers from as far back as 2017. Most assuring pensioners of no change but again this was based on a deal scenario.
We ask that pensioners are not alarmed by the differing messages put out by the UK governments. Consider that pension are also uprated in some non EU countries. Do follow the information provided by the UK government and CAB on our Brexit link.
