Controls Temporarily Reestablished at the Land Border with Portugal

Controls temporarily reestablished at the internal land border with Portugal are extended from 01:00 a.m. on April 6, 2021 to 12:59 a.m. on April 16, 2021.

 2. Only the following people will be allowed to enter Spanish territory:

 a) Spanish citizens and their spouse or partner with whom they maintain a union analogous to the conjugal one registered in a public registry, and those ascendants and descendants who live in their care, provided they travel with or to meet with the latter.

 b) Residents in Spain, who must prove their habitual residence, as well as students studying in Spain.

 c) Residents in other Member States or Schengen Associated States, or in Andorra, Monaco, The Vatican (Holy See) or San Marino, who go to their usual place of residence, duly accredited.

 d) Those who are going to transit or remain in Spanish territory for any exclusively work-related reason, as long as it is documented.  This category will include, among others, cross-border workers, health workers and transport workers.

 e) Those that document causes of force majeure or situation of need, or for humanitarian reasons.

 f) Foreign personnel accredited as members of diplomatic missions, consular offices and international organisations located in Spain, as long as they are trips related to the performance of their official duties, as well as participants in State trips and members of the Forces and  Security Forces and Armed Forces to exercise their functions.

 3. The entries and exits of the Spanish territory through the internal land border with Portugal may only be made through the authorised passages and during the established hours.  For these purposes, the General Directorate of the Police will agree with the Portuguese authorities on the list of steps and schedules, and will inform the public about it.
