Received a call from a distressed lady resident of the UK and timeshare owner in Spain. The lady has received a call from someone going under the name of Grace Stead and pertaining to be from the non existent firm ‘Malaga international Services’ translators for the Malaga courts. The lady was told that her timeshare company had been prosecuted for fraud and that she had been awarded almost 10,000 euros in compensation. To avail of this money, she should pay 10% into a bank account which allegedly would be used to pay the courts so that the monies allegedly awarded to her would be released. The lady in question was about to make her way to the bank when the husband suggested that she call Citizens Advice Bureau Spain. We have advised that this is undoubtably a scam and to call the police.
Please share this information with anyone who you know who may have a timeshare property in Spain. I have the telephone number used and have asked for the bank account details where the money should be transferred.
