UKNS Validity of the Green Registration Certificates and Employment Offices

Update February 23, 2022.

Thank you to the British Embassy who have been working on our behalf with the Spanish administration offices to prove the validity of the green registration certificates for UK Nationals.  This was brought up by CAB Spain and others in the last virtual meeting with consuls From the British Embassy.

“Access to regional employment services:

–         At the end of last year, some of you highlighted that UK nationals, who were receiving support from regional employment offices, had received instructions to provide the WA TIE by 31 December 2021. Failure to do so could result in them losing access to this support. You also raised the fact that the green EU residence certificate was no longer being accepted as valid proof of residence.

–         Following engagement with the Spanish authorities, I am pleased to let you know that this information has now been updated and passed on to all regional employment services.

o   Residents who have a green EU residence document (‘temporary’ or ‘permanent’) can use this, along with their valid passport, to update their details with the employment service

o   There is no deadline to provide residence documentation (the previous deadline of 31 December 2021 has been removed)

o   We have been assured that anyone who incorrectly lost access to the service, as a result of not providing a TIE by 31 December 2021, will have this access reinstated.

–         An example of the updated information can be found on the Servicio Canario de Empleo website.

–         Anyone who continues to experience problems should contact/submit a complaint to the regional employment service”.
