UK proposals for a new Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland

The proposal to the European Union for a withdrawal deal published today October 2 which only discusses the removal of the Irish backstop can be read on the link below:

This is in addition to the letter written by the Prime Minister to Donald Tusk on 19 August 2019 setting out the UK’s position on the renegotiation of the Withdrawal Agreement, as well as this government’s desired final destination for a long-term relationship with the EU.

MP and Secretary for exiting the European Union Steve Barclay wrote to Michel Barnier on September 19. Letter and response included below:

With only 29 days to go, it is very disappointing to see the lack of progress for an agreement. We have no idea if the draft withdrawal agreement of November 14 2018 which includes ‘Citizens Rights’ now has any relevance.
