There is a point to this topic. We (who are habitual habitants of Spain) are aware of the robberies which often occur in places such as supermarkets parking lots. Another prime area for easy pickings is from the numerous cars parked near to our beaches where, you can guarantee that visitors will be spending many hours enjoying the sunshine and surf. Holidaymakers should also be vigilant on the journey from and to the airports. Petrol stations and now even the toll credit card payment areas are being targeted.

Please, car hire companies. We are aware that you wish to advertise, but, are you conscious of the consequences your stickers with various trade names and other gimmicks such as ‘this is a rental car’ stuck on the back window. What you are doing is making these unsuspecting tourists an easy target for robberies. Please make your vehicles less obvious

Holiday makers. Do not even trust that your car boot is safe. Try not to give signs that you are visitors. This is often obvious by the articles you leave in the vehicle.

Be vigilant in all supermarkets and commercial centres. Lookout for unusual activity around your vehicle, asking for directions, pointing to a tyre for example. Ladies putting handbags on passenger seats as you go around to the drivers door.

Stopping for a snack on the way to or from the airport? Avoid opening the boot whilst parked showing what’s inside.

Use central locking as you leave the car park (unlock when on the road for access to the inside of your vehicle in case of accidents).  Leave nothing in your vehicle.

Heading to the beach? Do not leave anything of value in the boot of the vehicle.
