How to Apply for Your NIE Number (Fiscal Number)
1. Download the EX-15 Form: Access the form from our library.
2. Download the 790 Form: Download the form 790 ‘Tasa’ (tax form) that you will need for the payment.
3. Make an Appointment: Schedule a ‘cita previa’ at your local ‘Policia Nacional’ foreigners office.
4. Prepare Your Documents:
• EU Citizens: Bring your valid passport and photocopies of the front page and the photo page.
• Non-EU Citizens: Bring your valid passport and photocopies of all pages of the passport.
You should also have an address ready (either yours or a fiscal address).
5. Pay the Fee: Take the completed 790 form to the nearest bank to pay the fee associated with your NIE application. The bank will stamp your form 790 as proof of payment.
6. Complete and Present the Forms: Submit your completed EX-15 form and the stamped 790 form at the police station. If you’re unsure how to fill it out, the officers can assist you.
7. Collect Your NIE: You will receive your NIE number, which is your fiscal identification number in Spain.
Important Note: The NIE number is a lifetime number; it does not change or expire.
