As of January 1st 2015, all TV channels that are presently being transmitted on the 800 MHz band, will be relocated to another frequency, as the 800 MHz will be designated for the 4G mobile telephone networks.
You may need to re-tune your aerial if you do not want to lose any of the channels presently available on TDT. After adapting the aerial for reception, you will have to scan for the channels on each connected TV.
Not all aerials need to be re-tuned. Those installed on single houses or smaller sized buildings have inbuilt broadband amplifiers that will enable reception of tv channels on all available frequencies. So only buildings that have ´monochannels´ or programmable central units on their community antena need to do so.
You will need to engage a technician to do this for you, as not all aerials need the same adjustment and technical requirements can vary. Ask for quotes first.
You can apply for a series of grants to help pay for the adaptation of the aerials. You must pay ahead, and apply for the grant online later, so be sure to keep the bill.
Only ´catch´ here is that the Royal Decree that will regularise these grants, has not been published yet, so at the moment, you cannot apply yet, but here is http://www.televisiondigital.es/DividendoDigital/SalaPrensa/Paginas/ayudas-adaptacion-antena-colectiva-tdt.aspx the link to the grants that will become available.
We recommend studying the different grants and compare them with the quotes for the adaptation, so you can avoid having to pay too much yourself.
– communities that have a programmable central unit and thus do not need to install any additional equipment, can apply for a max. grant of 100 euros
– for communities that have ´monochannel´ amplifiers, the grant varies, depending on the ´multiple digitals´ that vary per geographic region (info on the link provided). The maximum grant for one ´multiple digital´ is 150 euros, for two 250 euros, for three 350 euros, for four 450 euros and for five 550 euros.
This is a link to the number of multiple digitals in different provinces.

As the window to prepare for this change is quite short, it is expected that a lot of rogue technicians will pop up to offer their services.
To prevent you falling victim to a rogue, the Ministry of Industry has prepared a webpage where you can find a list of registered qualified technicians offering the required services. This is the link to the web.
