Getting Married in Spain

New rules were recently published in gov.uk. Notice of marriage is now only 7 day. the period of residency is now only 3 days, so much easier for tourist weddings. details are confirmed on the notarial guide. Scroll down to ‘scenario three´. Link below.

Note* As the information on residency or for visitors is not included except to contact a registry civil (often difficult to get someone to pick up the phone). Here are some suggestions.

At least one of the couple should register on the padron (town hall census). You must allow two months at least for permission after presenting on the documentation necessary. Most town halls do not specify the amount of time needed to be registered with them. One “juzgado de paz” peace court said one day was sufficient for them.
Need to add that the padron is a register for those who reside habitually in the town.

Suggest that you contact the town hall, registry civil or juzgado de paz in the town you wish to celebrate your marriage.
