¨The new EU forest strategy must focus on managing forests sustainably, promoting efficient use of the raw materials that they produce, and boosting the competitiveness of forest-related industry so as to create jobs, says a non-legislative resolution voted by Parliament on Tuesday.¨

¨Parliament approved a proposal to have all new car models and light vans fitted with eCall emergency calling devices by 2018. The devices, that can automatically alert emergency service in case of an accident, are believed to be capable of cutting traffic deaths by 10%.¨
Nigeria: MEPs call for international cooperation to stop Boko Haram
¨The massacres perpetrated by the terrorist sect Boko Haram in Nigeria were vehemently condemned by the European Parliament in a vote on Thursday. MEPs urge the Nigerian authorities to do their utmost to end the violence and tackle the root causes of the terrorism, including corruption. Parliament also urges Nigeria’s neighbours and the international community to cooperate with efforts to starve Boko Haram of income and prevent it spreading terror abroad.¨
