ERTE Extension and Exemption from Social Security Payments

The Government has approved today in the Council of Ministers the extension of the ERTE and the aid to the self-employed until February 28, 2022.

It is the sixth agreement in defense of employment reached within the framework of social dialogue.

?The ERTEs will remain in force in their current conditions during the month of October. Starting in November, progress will be made on a new model that prioritizes the training of workers under this mechanism in order to increase their training and improve their employability.

In addition, the so-called ‘Accountant at 0’ is extended until December 2022 – what is collected in ERTE will not subtract from the accumulated unemployment benefit. And specific ERTEs are activated for people affected by the eruption of the volcano on La Palma and for the whole of the Canary Islands.

?As for the aid aimed at the self-employed, those who are beneficiaries of benefits until September will have exemptions in their social contributions for the next four months.

The 4 current benefits are maintained: due to suspension of activity, compatible with activity for those who have not recovered activity, extraordinary due to low income and for seasonal workers.

With these measures, the Executive continues to protect workers and companies, committed to their reactivation after the pandemic.
