Citizens Advice Spain says goodbye to X

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are deeply grateful for the community we’ve built together over the last twelve years—one that spans across nationalities and countries, unified by a shared commitment to helping others. Your ongoing support on our Facebook group of 90,000 strong, as well as the 20,000 followers on our page, has been invaluable. Our website continues to welcome thousands of visitors daily, each of you contributing to our mission in your unique way.

However, we want to share an important decision with you. After much consideration and twelve years on the platform, we have decided to leave Twitter, now known as X. As a people’s charity, we believe it is vital to operate in environments that align with our values of kindness and trust. Unfortunately, X (Twitter) appears to have become a platform where misinformation is prevalent and where voices from radical groups—regardless of their position on the spectrum—are increasingly amplified. This environment no longer reflects the values we stand for and makes it difficult for us to effectively carry out our mission.

We are not alone in this decision. Many others, including lawyers and emergency services, have also chosen to step away from the platform for similar reasons.

We will post our decision on Twitter and will be collecting and downloading our data from the platform. We will also give other charities and our followers time to see our announcement before we fully depart, which could take a couple of weeks. During this time, we will instruct an IT person to remove the Twitter icon from our website. Update August 18. The Twitter icon for sharing our posts has now been removed.

We are committed to continuing our work on platforms that foster positivity and provide safe spaces for all. Our efforts will now focus even more on our growing community on Facebook and through our website.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Together, we will keep making a difference.

With gratitude,
Citizens Advice Spain.

August 20. Adios.
