´CHEQUE FAMILIAR´of 1200 EURO TAX REDUCTION FOR LARGE OR ONE PARENT FAMILIES

Myra wrote about it in THIS article in December 2014, but just to remind you that 31st of March is the deadline to apply for the ´cheque familiar´ or the 1200 euro tax reduction, to be able to receive the payment monthly in advance. If you can´t meet that deadline you can also apply through your ´Renta´ declaration, for the pro rata amount to be deducted from your declaration (if you applied in July for example, you will be entitled to half of the yearly amount). So if you applied last year, but not before March 31st, don´t forget to tick the relevant box on your 2015 Renta tax return!

Who can apply?

– Familias numerosas (3 or more kids, or 2 or more if one of them is disabled as for the formula they count as 2)

– One parent families with at least 2 dependant children

– Families with ascendent or descendent family members with disability depending on them

– Unemployed on paro (unemployment benefits) or pensioners with ascendent or descendent family members with disability OR a familia numerosa depending on them.

To apply for the advanced payment (100 euros per month) of the 1200 euros, you can use ´modelo 143´ from the Tax Office through THIS link, with or without a digital certificate installed on your computer.

Must have completed the application forms as mentioned in the link at the top of the article first, though.
