The members on the CAB Facebook group has reached a staggering 67k plus and growing daily. The group has been moderated and posts have been approved by an admin usually with the relative answer or with admins searching for the members on the CAB website. All this was possible in the early days. Now with what is still a small team of volunteers impossible to sustain.

The Facebook is a forum like it or not. You cannot form a Facebook group where members are allowed to comment and then refuse them doing so. The threads show that this is what the majority of members want. Others understandably would like to see an answer from a CAB adviser or admin with commenting then turned off. This has been tried and has brought in complaints from many.

Some questions posed need a legal response and should not be answered by those not qualified to do so. This is made clear in the rules and when members join but is difficult to moderate. We also frequently ask that if a member does not know the answer, not to post supposition as does not help.

Each morning we find around 50 or more posts in pending to approve and respond to. These posts continue to increase during the day.

The changes to the group will be that posts will be automatically approved with moderators checking for advertising, scams and unsuitable posts. Auto a posting option will be removed at 8pm every night to give admin a break from moderating.

Please be diligent on accepting answers from those who may not be qualified. Please do not post personal posts or those that include personal details but contact us on the website.

Members can report posts or comments so that admin/moderators can resolve. There is also a list of keywords that flags up certain words. This allows the team to moderate. We will be taking on corporate partners so you may see posts with links referring to these. Others may not advertise.

Many may not realise that besides assisting on the group, there are email enquiries and phone calls to answer. Time is also needed to draft the vast array of informative posts and FAQs provided on the website.

CAB will continue on the website: C.A.B Website whilst the Facebook group will remain as a forum. You can all use the website search facility, the Ask for Advice section (p0se your question to a CAB adviser) and the contact us page.

Did you know that you can have a one to one communication with a CAB adviser, post your questions there on the Ask for Advice section. We need your support to give you our time so please note that you can become a donating member from as little as 20 euros a year. This will allow you to post your questions to an adviser whenever needed.

Thank you for understanding and the support shown to us over the last seven years.

Remember “we are stronger together”.
