A CAB Hint On Making Savings – Landline

Why pay more than 1,99 euro a month for your landline? “CONTRATO MINIMO”, 1,99 euro a month (ex IVA), offered by Movistar.

If you already have a landline, but only ever use it to receive calls, or place the isolated call to a local or even an international number, do not have regular Internet, ADSL or more than one line contracted with Telefonica/Movistar, and do not have any equipment that you owe rent for, this tariff might be sufficient for your needs.

You do not pay for the line, nor for any equipment, nor for any services. You will still be able to receive calls and place calls, only the cost for outgoing costs will be higher than with regular contracts.

I know from personal experience that this actually works. We called 1004 to cancel our landline, as only use mobile or Internet (through different provider) to communicate with friends and family and were advised of this Contrato Minimo instead. It took a couple of months to get the tariff rightly represented on our monthly bills, but we received a credit for the initial overcharge (without having to call again!) and this past month our total bill amounted to just 5 euros. The 1,99 for the Contrato Minimo, a couple of phone calls we made and IVA. A whole lot less than before!
