Balearic Islands. Their First Urbanistic Law Since Aquiring Autonomo Status

Since they became a politically independent Comunidad Autonoma in 1983, the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza) have not had their own, proper Ley de Urbanismo as the  ´Ley de ordenación y uso del suelo´ is commonly known.

Now they do, published today in the National Boletin de Estado, the BOE.  The ´old´ Law, from before the Balearic Constitution dates from 1976, when for example environment issues were not or hardly taken into account when you applied for planning permission.

For those who have building permissions pending as the authorities have been waiting for this new law to be approved and published, it will be a relief that it has finally come through.
