Since the introduction of the ´Ley de Tasas´ in 2012, private individuals were responsible for the costs involved in lots of judicial procedures, like appealing fines, appealing dismissal before higher court, appeal an eviction, appeal non-returned rental deposits etc.

As of today, 2nd of March 2015, these ´tasas´ have been removed for all judicial procedures, for private individuals (persona física) as the ´tasas´ impeded easy access for all citizens to the judicial system, thus admitted by government.

If you are the owner of a business, with a legal format (SL business, association, foundation) than this is known as a ´persona juridica´ and will not be exempt of paying the judicial ´tasas´ in cases where it´s not you personally making use of the judicial system, but your business (in labour conflicts for example).
