WFA Alternative to Help You Stay Warm in Winter?

The Junta de Andalucia has announced the 2nd edition of  its Programme for Environmental Friendly Construction and offers Subsidies for ´Rehabilitación de Viviendas´, to do with all kinds of measures you take to improve the energy efficiency of your home.

Examples:

– replacing single glass windows by double or even triple glazing

– installation of sources of renewable energy, like small solar system for warm water or small fotovoltaic system to generate energy for own consumption

– acquisition of pellet burners, installation of bio mass systems (using wood or briquetas for fuel), used for heating your home or to heat up water

– investing in sun-protecting equipment (toldos)

– reforms to improve the insulation of outside walls, the space under your home, and floors

– enclosing of roofed terrace, either with brick walls or glass

– change lighting equipment from ordinary to energy saving

– creating sources of natural light, like skylights

– bioclimate solutions to ventilate or shade rooms

– demolition of non-supporting walls that were blocking natural light

Co-funding for this programme comes from the EU (FEDER programme). You need to turn to one of the collaborating businesses. They will process the subsidy and will give you a quote with the offered subsidy already taken into account. For their application to be processed it will need to be accompanied by a certificate that the client is uptodate with his/her payments to the autonomous and state tax authorities, as well as the Seguridad Social. You can apply for said certificates online, when you have a digital certificate installed on your computer, or – with regards to Hacienda – con Pin CL@VE and you must specify that the certificates are to be used for an application (solicitud) for ´subvención´.

The subsidies can be applied for as of mid February, but it is wise to go and ask for quotes and arrange for the tax and Seguridad Social certificates as soon as you can, as last year, the available funds had been used up within 2 months. So it is important to get the application in soonest, if you want to take advantage of this Programme with direct discounts that are expected to range between 40 and 60%.

The subsidies are not only available to private individuals, but to communities of owners and businesses as well. You do not need to be a property owner, tenants can apply as well, but must present letter of consent from the owner.

Whatever the subsidy has been applied and granted for, must remain in the property for at least 5 years.

Foreign residents will need to present residency certificate and proof of address.
