The Government has prolonged (with 6 months) the Plan Prepara, for long-term unemployed and those whose right to Paro/Unemployment Benefits has run out.

The Subsidy amounts to 400 euros a month (450 for those living with dependent family members) and you can apply with INEM / SEPE.

The aim of the subsidy is to be an incentive for those who continue to actively look for work, one of the requisites is that you have to be able to demonstrate having done this in the month previous to application, or by having participated in some sort of  (educational) activity to increase your chances of finding a job. Maximum duration is six months in which a plan to increase your chances on the job-market will be executed, drawn up in cooperation with the INEM/SEPE employees.

This last prolongation has come into effect on August 16th of this year and the government has announced that Plan Prepara will automatically be prolonged with 6 months every time, as long as the unemployment figure stays above 20%.
