COVID-19 healthcare in Spain
Rapid lateral flow tests (‘pruebas de antígenos’) are widely available in pharmacies in Spain for a fee.
If you have symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 during your stay in Spain, you are not required to self-isolate.
Hotels and other accommodation providers may have their own COVID-19 protocols in place. Follow any safety measures put in place by your accommodation provider. Your accommodation provider may have a list of private doctors that they can call to assess your symptoms and conduct a COVID-19 test.
Still waiting for an updated press release from the Spanish government. January 8.
The Ministry maintains its proposal to mandate the use of masks in health centres.
The Ministry’s intention is to maintain the same level of protection for all citizens and provide legal coverage to the CCAA that have already done so.
The use of masks in social health centers and pharmacies is reduced upon recommendation.
Madrid, January 8, 2024.-The Minister, Mónica García, and the councillors of the Autonomous Communities, met this morning, electronically, to analyse the respiratory virus epidemic that is affecting the majority of territories.
This is the fourth meeting of this type since García arrived at the Ministry. The objective of the meeting was to analyze the increase in respiratory virus infections and agree on equal measures for all citizens.
The meeting ended without agreement and the CCAA will send, in the next 48 hours, their allegations to the document presented by the ministry.
There has been talk and reflection on the role of the mask, especially in health centers, hospitals and health centers to protect both patients and professionals, as an effective measure, a common sense measure, supported by scientific evidence and well received by the population.
During the meeting, some initiatives from different communities were collected, such as the expansion of the recommendation for the use of masks in pharmacies, and a period of 48 hours was agreed upon to continue receiving contributions.
The need to provide legal support through a declaration of coordinated action to all those communities of different political colors that have already introduced the mask into their health systems has also been raised.
Follow the advice of the local authorities.
