What a pleasure it was to meet up with the members of the Phoenix association in Torre del Mar Malaga yesterday. The turnout was magnificent and appeared to be around 60 attending.
The members were made up by a group of all ages and as diverse in their situations with many residents and non-resident holiday homeowners.
The one-hour plus talk included topics such as the ‘Padron’ (the municipal census of the town’s habitants). As often if not always found at these talks, there were many non-residents who had been ill advisedly encouraged and advised about registering on the padron.
Those who were habitual residents but not as yet registered were reassured that they had done the correct thing by inscribing on the town hall registers. Advantages to figuring on the census were discussed.
The main topic of discussion was residency and details were provided on the various residency statuses which included, resident, fiscal resident and permanent resident’.
As with our Facebook group members, there were many who were surprised that they had not only attained permanent residence status but that this was also reflected in their residency certificates, both A4 and small permit size.
After members were happy with questions to their enquiries, we went on to talk about the now commonly used Spanish expression “bono social” which is the subvention of the 24% reduction on electricity costs for those who met the criteria. We found that one family had availed of this bonus.
The session ended with an hour or so of one to one questions on whatever subject the group members required. The event went on for for just over two hours.
