Dear members.

Due to your response about setting up a scam awareness spot, At present we can use this area. We will post the guides from CAB UK on how to spot scam of all types of scam. We will slowly draft our own information basically pertaining to Spain.

We have all been aware of the numerous investment fraud perpetrated on expats and especially pensioner who had worked a lifetime for their nest egg. So many have sadly fallen prey to fraudsters. The Spanish authorities had not been aware of the many scams being set up here and mainly in the main, shamefully by our own community. There has been promised to clean up but this is not being done at the speed necessary. Some of the shameless companies when discovered, have avoiding prosecutions and just moved on to other countries popular with expats and continue to practice their illegal trade there.

In the meantime, please note that it is not a ‘name and shame’ page. The laws are strict in Spain and names cannot be mentioned unless the person has been sentenced for a crime committed. Possible scams can be discussed (NO NAMES PLEASE).

Companies who have been listed as not regulated to practice in Spain can be named but must be supported by proof from one or more of the regulatory bodies.
