Today, through a press release, DGT/Trafico have announced that as a part of their programme to periodically arrange for increased speed vigilance on selected roads, they have now arranged for 1.500 mobil radar units to be set up on ´carreteras secundarias´, i.e. the roads that connect one town to the next (with generally one lane for each direction), coinciding with the first weekend of July when a lot of extra movement on the roads is expected because of people travelling to their summer holiday location. The operationOperation Summer will start on Friday July 3rd. The locations of the 1.500 mobile speedtraps will be published on the DGT Webpage.
I checked just now and the locations have not been published as yet, but once they are up, you can access them through THIS LINK.
According to the DGT, the mobile radar units will be visible to conductors, not hidden out of sight.
To remind you, on the secundary highways the max. speedlimit for regular private vehicles is 100 km/hr when there is a hard shoulder of at least 1,5 m wide and 90 km/hr if it is less wide than that. 90 and 80 km/hr respectively for small commercial vehicles, 80 and 70 km/hr respectively for larger commercial vehicles and trucks.
Drive safely!
