Procedure for Application of a TIE

Foreigners identity cards may be requested if:

A visa or authorisation has been issued to stay in Spain for a period exceeding six months .

The legal situation of the identity card holder has been modified or altered, or their employment situation including the renewal of the authorisation .

Their identity card has been stolen, lost, destroyed or rendered useless.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Note: in general, copies of the documents must be provided and the originals must be exhibited at the time of submitting the application.

Acceptance visa from consulate.
Passport and photocopies.
You may be required to present an updated padrón certificate.
Application form in official form (EX17) in duplicate. Duly completed and signed.

Proof of payment of the card fee .

Accreditation of affiliation and / or registration with Social Security, if applicable.

A recent colour photograph, on a white background, passport size.

Where appropriate, the report the loss or theft, or presentation of the disabled card.

PROCESS

Deadline for submission : one month from entry into Spain or from when the authorisation is granted or becomes effective or, where appropriate, from the moment the card was stolen, lost, destroyed or rendered useless.

Fees for issuing the identity card : the amount of the fee depends on the authorisation that documents the card.

They may be:
Model 790 012 “Card that documents the first granting of the authorisation of temporary residence, stay or workers
Form 790 012 “Card that documents the renewal or extension of the authorisation of temporary residence, extension of stay or of cross-border workers”.
Model 790 012 “Card that documents the residence and work authorisation for exceptional circumstances
Model790 012 “Card that documents the authorisation of long-term residence or long-term residence-EU
The identity card will have the same validity period as the authorisation or recognition of the right that justifies its issuance.

To collect the foreigner identity card, the interested party must prove that they are the recipient of the document and have made the payment of the established fees .

Holders of a residence and seasonal work permit are exempt from the obligation to apply for a foreigner’s identity card .
