After qualifying as a State Registered Nurse (already qualified in Ophthalmic Nursing) I specialised in Accident and Emergency nursing before joining the Princess Mary’s Royal Air Force Nursing Service. After 16 years Service I retired with the rank of Squadron Leader. Still being quite young I decided on another career move and joined a County Council as a manager in the Environment and Traffic Department.
During my later years in the PMRAFNS and whilst working for the Council I was also a Volunteer member of Victim Support supporting victims of crime. Just before moving to Spain in 2010 I also had the experience of being a NVQ Assessor in Health and Social Care.
Our move to Spain was not a quick decision, something which took us about 5 years to plan and execute, so we planned pretty well. However we still found the language barrier, bureaucracy and different laws somewhat daunting at times.
Someone mentioned CAB Spain and I joined. It soon became obvious that we were not alone in needing assistance and advice.
My background has always been around helping, guiding and assisting people and now as a volunteer with CAB Spain I hope I can be of use to the Advisors and other team members in providing the much needed advise and assistance to others.
