Members. We need your support.
We have received two enquiries from British residents of Spain in relation to Brexit. One pensioner says she has been refused a necessary operation due to Brexit. A couple say that they have been refused residency. The reason given was that due to the action against Spaniards in the UK, (this allegedly from a particular officer but we do need proof of refusals) that the police station was freezing all applications.
We are looking into these cases but in the meantime, please can you all keep an eye out and especially for the elderly in our community, many who may just accept refusals for healthcare or any other services they are entitled to. We expect this to be isolated cases but do email me personally if yours or your neighbours rights are eroded in any way. Thank you.
During my radio interview on Talk Radio Europe on the morning of June 24th, I spoke about my main fears that the administrative offices would begin to act as though we exited the EU on June 23. I was not comfortable with the “stay calm nothing will change” statements coming from the British authorities without looking at the possible eventualities which we are already all to aware of at CAB Spain, pre and post the referendum.
